There is also no oil company or a fuel retailer called &#8216;HPL&#8217;. There is however <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hindustanpetroleum.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited<\/a> but its short form is HPCL.<\/p>\n<p>A closer look at the bill reveals a discrepancy in the font sizes of the words and numbers. These errors have been underlined in the image below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"960\" class=\"wp-image-97314 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/06\/word-image-36.jpeg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/06\/word-image-36.jpeg 540w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/06\/word-image-36-169x300.jpeg 169w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The date printed on the bill is October 4, 2018, when the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance was in power in Maharashtra and BJP leader <a href=\"https:\/\/navbharattimes.indiatimes.com\/metro\/mumbai\/politics\/maharashtra-budget-2018-main-points-by-finance-minister-sudhir-mungantiwar\/articleshow\/63230898.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Devendra Fadnavis<\/a> was the chief minister.<\/p>\n<p>Several other fact-checking outlets including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boomlive.in\/viral-photo-of-petrol-bill-stating-dont-vote-for-modi-is-fake\/\">Boomlive<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thelogicalindian.com\/fact-check\/edited-image-of-petrol-bill-asking-not-to-vote-for-pm-modi-goes-viral-27119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Logical Indian<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/smhoaxslayer.com\/the-viral-petrol-bill-is-fake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SM Hoax Slayer<\/a> have debunked the fake bill in the past.<\/p>\n<p>These reports carried a sample bill from a petrol pump similar to the viral bill. The URL linked to the sample bill is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saibalajihandheld.com\/petrol-pump-billing-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">currently unavailable<\/a>.
