Aam Aadmi Party held a press conference after the Delhi High Court found Congress leader Sajjan Kumar guilty in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Sajjan Kumar has been sentenced to jail “for the remainder of his natural life” by the Delhi High Court. In the press conference, AAP leader Jarnail Singh targeted Congress leader Salman Khurshid while claiming that he’s received information that Khurshid wants to challenge the Delhi High Court verdict and defend Sajjan Kumar.
#AAP, Jarnail Singh: We got to know that Congress leader Salman Khurshid spoke of challenging the Delhi High Court’s decision on #SajjanKumar. It’s a matter of extreme shame that instead of expelling him from the party, he is speaking of challenging the decision. pic.twitter.com/6Hvgu4seFt

Meanwhile, Catch News had also reported about the AAP press conference suggesting that Salman Khurshid might be planning to challenge the verdict.
No such statement made by Salman Khurshid
In a conversation with Alt News, Salman Khurshid has rubbished the claim saying, “I just did not make the statement, where is the statement. There is nothing at all that I have said. I haven’t read the judgement yet.”
Fake news traces to parody account
Alt News found a tweet along the same lines by a parody handle of National Herald, @NH_420. It was tweeted at least 50 mins before the press conference went live on the official Facebook page of Aam Aadmi Party.
If Rahul Gandhi permits, our legal team in Congress party ready to defend Sajjan Kumar in Supreme Court by challenging Delhi High Court verdict. We are also looking forward to defend Jagdish Tytler in #1984SikhGenocide. Question of sacking them doesn’t arise : Salman Khurshid pic.twitter.com/SjRJDB2gFd

The statement attributed to Salman Khurshid was concocted by a parody handle and was later referred to by Aam Aadmi Party in their press conference.
