On December 20, Jawahar Yadav, Officer on Special Duty to Manohar Lal, Chief Minister of Haryana, tweeted a video with the claim that a Bangladeshi man was caught at an airport in Saudi Arabia carrying an Indian passport. “Bangladeshi passenger travelling with Indian passports arrested at Saudi airport they are hiding their original Bangladeshi passport in their shoes sole .some shameless indians who are protesting against CAB should watch this video(बंगलादेशी भारतीय पासपोर्ट पर) @TajinderBagga,” reads the tweet which was retweeted over 970 times.

Similarly, Twitter user @Meenu_71 posted the same video along with the same text. It was retweeted over 5,000 times. Several users have posted this video with the same claim on Twitter and on Facebook.

OLD VIDEO FROM KUWAIT

Alt News used InVID to break the viral video into keyframes and perform a reverse image search on Yandex. The search results threw up the same video on YouTube with the title ‘الدخول بجواز مزور ونظر كيف تخبئت الجواز الاصلي (Enter using false passport and see how the original passport was hidden)’ from December 31, 2015.

Alt News subsequently did a keyword search on Google and found a report by Arab Times from December 19, 2015.

According to the report, several Bangladeshis were arrested by the immigration officers for attempting to enter Kuwait on forged Indian passports and hiding their Bangladesh passport inside shoes. The report cites Al- Shahed daily as the source.

A time-search on Facebook also led us to a video posted by a Kwt Today.

The viral video is from 2015 and it is being shared with the Citizen’s Amendment Bill narrative.
