Hitendra Pithadiya, National Coordinator of the Congress’ Dalit wing, tweeted a few photos of a collapsed bridge on October 22, claiming that the incident occurred near Ajit Mill Char Rasta in Ahmedabad. (Archive link)

Many users retweeted Hitendra’s post targeting the ‘Gujarat model’.

Fact-check

Alt News could not find any reports to corroborate this claim.

We then performed a keyword search and discovered that an under-construction flyover bridge had collapsed late on October 19 in Nagpur. The Times of India (TOI) reported on the mishap in an October 20 story. However, the accompanying image does not resemble the one in question. The report says that a part of the under-construction bridge collapsed near Bharat Nagar Chowk in Kalmana, Nagpur. There were no casualties. The flyover was reportedly being constructed by the National Highway Authority.

Several outlets like the Free Press Journal, Mumbai Tak, Lokmat News18, TOI Nagpur, and TOI Pune covered the incident. These reports contain a few images of the collapsed portion of the bridge which are similar to the ones tweeted by Pithadiya.

A keyword search on Twitter took us to pictures and videos of the area around the rubble from the bridge.

The comparison below shows that the location is the same.

Congress’s Hitendra Pithadiya shared photos of a collapsed flyover in Nagpur as the Ajit Mill Char Rasta in Ahmedabad. He later took it down.
