On October 20, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath kickstarted his election campaign for poll bound Bihar in Kaimur district. Since then an image that shows an aerial view of thousands of people gathered is being circulated on Facebook and Twitter with the claim that it shows CM Adityanath’s massive rally in Bihar.

The viral text associated with image reads in Hindi, “Crowd gathered to hear Yogi Adityanath at a rally in Bihar… The ground echoed with Jai Shri Ram chants.”

The image was shared by Twitter user @Krishna29892392 drawing over 400 retweets. (archived link)

Similarly, it was shared on Facebook by multiple users including Mukesh Kumar Saini’s (archived link) post on the group ‘Narendar Modi fans’, अर्जुन कुमार (Arjun Kumar, archived link) who posted the image on ‘Join BJP Group’ and Sanjay Singh (archived link). These posts were shared over 1,500 times cumulatively.

Six-year-old image reshared

The same image was shared on social media in March 2019 to project a show of strength at PM Modi’s West Bengal last year. Alt News verified that the image was from a Desh Gujarat article from 2014. As per this article, it was shot at PM Modi’s rally in Kolkata that took place in February 2014.

These images were also tweeted by Truth by IBTL and BJP member Tejaswini Gowda in 2014.

The images from CM Adityanath’s rally in Ramghar, a city in Bihar’s Kaimur district, were tweeted by ANI. None of these shows a massive crowd of thousands.

Thus, an image from PM Modi’s 2014 rally in Kolkata was recently shared as CM Adityanath’s rally in Bihar ahead of state elections.
