A photo of US President Joe Biden greeting a child has been making the rounds on social media. Biden can be seen kneeling in front of the child, whom users claim is the daughter of George Floyd whose death at the hands of a white police officer on May 25, 2020 sparked protests across the US.
Below is a tweet by AICC media panellist Surendra Rajput’s tweet which gathered close to 6,000 retweets.
Other Congress leaders who shared the photograph writing, “The world’s most powerful person is ashamed of the injustice faced by his country’s citizen.” (दुनिया का सर्वशक्तिशाली व्यक्ति अपने देश के एक आम नागरिक के साथ हुई नाइंसाफ़ी के लिए शर्मिंदा है.), were MLA Shakuntala Sahu and chairman of Rajasthan Youth Congress Social Media Satyaveer Aloriya.
One Amit Mishra, who describes himself as a journalist in his Twitter bio, made this claim in a now-deleted tweet. His post garnered over 300 retweets before it was taken down.
Facebook user Ali Siddiqui also shared the picture and accompanying claim.
The photo is gathering a lot of traction on Twitter and Facebook with the same message.

Alt News performed a reverse image search and found this picture on AP Images. The website identifies the child seen here as CJ Brown, son of Clement Brown. Clement owns an apparel store called Three Thirteen. The caption states that the then-presidential candidate visited CJ and his father while arriving to shop at the store on September 9, 2020. Associated Press has attributed the photo to Patrick Semansky.
A story in Michigan’s leading daily, Detroit Free Press, included more photos from President Biden and CJ’s meeting.
On September 10, 2020, Corinne Perkins, North America Editor at Reuters Pictures, identified the youngster as CJ Brown, son of the owner of Three Thirteen.
