Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were in West Bengal to campaign for the BJP in the ongoing assembly elections. Photographs of the two leaders have been shared with the claim that they campaigned in Sonagachi, the largest red-light area in Asia.

Most people have shared Amit Shah’s photograph which shows him in a lane where a poster that reads ‘Savita Rani Sonagchi’ is pasted on the wall.

The images have also been shared on Facebook.

They are in fact widespread on the social media platform.

Morphed images

Both images have been morphed. Amit Shah had himself tweeted the original photograph. It does not carry the wall poster that says ‘Sonagachi’. The image was taken during door-to-door campaigning in Bhabanipur.

The other image has also been morphed to show PM Modi leaving a brothel. Below is the original photograph.

Morphed images were therefore shared to show PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Sonagachi.
