Our team, who has worked voluntarily for the most part since its inception, consists of engineers, social activists, journalists and scientists. Hence, we have the capacity to cover various news from politics, legal issues, caste-based and religious discrimination, gender rights, labour & farmer struggles, as well as health and medicine-related misinformation.

Mohammed Zubair is the co-founder of Alt News.
Priyanka Jha
Senior Editor
She specializes in information verification, examining mis/disinformation, social media monitoring and platform accountability. Her aim is to make the internet a safer place and enable people to become informed social media users. She has been a part of Alt News since 2018.
Smit Bhatt
Video Editor
Smit has been working at Alt News since 2018. In addition to video editing, he manages the Alt News’ Instagram channels. He specializes in social media monitoring of news and misinformation. Going forward, he wants to contribute towards enhancing digital literacy and dismantling political propaganda.
Ronak Shukla
Video Editor
He joined Alt News as the video editor in 2018. Prior to that he pursed his passion for film making. His role involves debunking misinformation through video reports.
Kinjal Parmar
Hindi Correspondent and Researcher
Kinjal Parmar holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. However, her keen interest in journalism, drove her to pursue journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. At Alt News since 2019, she focuses on authentication of information which includes visual verification, media misreports, examining mis/disinformation across social media. She is the lead video producer at Alt News and manages social media accounts for the organization.
Archit Mehta
Growth Manager
He joined as an intern in 2019. Until June 2022, his work primarily focused on fact-checking. Now his primary responsibilities include catalysing all aspects of organisational growth — from fundraising to development of new projects at Alt News. He attended Asian College of Journalism (2015-16) and The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (2012-2015). In past, he worked at The Hindu and Zee Media's WION.
Kalim Ahmed

Kalim started his journey with Alt News as an intern in 2020 and gradually transitioned to the position of a full time employee. His interests are in exploring the landscape of misinformation in India and the need for information literacy to shape informed individuals.
Abhishek Kumar
Hindi Correspondent and Researcher
Abhishek joined his journey at Alt News in 2021 as an intern. A year later, he joined the newsroom full-time. He has a keen interest in fact-checking and information verification. He is always eager to learn new skills, explore new OSINT tools and techniques. Prior to joining Alt News, he worked in the content sector with a major focus on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Shinjinee is a fact-checking journalist with a degree in Economics. She has a keen interest in analysing media misreports
Indradeep Bhattacharyya
Senior Editor
Indradeep, a journalist with over 10 years' experience in print and digital media, is a Senior Editor at Alt News. Earlier, he worked with The Times of India and The Wire. Politics and literature are among his areas of interest. Against all kinds of sensationalism; speaks truth to power.
Mahaprajna Nayak
Research Associate
Her interests are multidisciplinary, ranging from education, pedagogy, childhood geographies and media studies. She has a Masters in English from University of Hyderabad and PG Diploma in Community Media from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. She has previously worked as an Assistant editor, ELT, at Cambridge University Press and taught ESL at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences. Furthermore, she has also worked as a senior sub-editor at The Hindu. Apart from internships at The Caravan and UNESCO Chair on Community media, she has worked as a research assistant in a project on the politics of electricity in India and co-authored a book chapter, published by Oxford University Press.
