The complete message in Bengali reads, “দিল্লি পুলিশের বর্বরতা দেখুন, দিল্লির এই ভিডিও ছরিয়ে দিন.”

OLD, UNRELATED INCIDENT FROM MADHYA PRADESH

A Google reverse-image search of a keyframe from the video reveals that it is unrelated to Delhi riots or police brutality in the region. According to a May 9, 2019 report in NDTV, a cop in Madhya Pradesh was caught on camera beating a woman with a child inside Gwalior railway police station. “Gwalior police have claimed the video is two years old and that they were unaware of its existence until it was spotted on social media. They have also said the officer in question is away on poll duty and will be questioned on his return,” adds the report. The video surfaced days before Gwalior was set for Lok Sabha polls last year on May 12.

Local news channel IBC 24 broadcast the video on May 6, 2019 on YouTube.

Speaking to The Quint,IBC 24’s Gwalior correspondent Mahendra Singh said that the women in the video were identified by the police as beggars who frequent the city railway station. The reason behind their detention is yet to be ascertained.”

An old video of a cop in Gwalior beating a woman with a child, while three other policemen watch as mute spectators, is viral on social media. It is being shared with the false claim that the clip depicts brutality by Delhi police.
