 Fact Check

To verify the viral claim, first we ran relevant keyword searches to see if there were any reports on Owaisi performing an ‘aarti’. We could not find any.

On closer look, we noticed several elements in the video that suggest it is AI generated.

First, the logo of Google Gemini is visible at the bottom right corner (circled below).

Secondly, a signboard is visible in the first few frames of the video, where the Hindi spelling of ‘Hanuman Mandir’ is distorted. Such garbled words are a a typical feature of AI generated images or videos.

Thirdly, when the camera angle lifts, the orientation of the shot changes inexplicably:

Fourthly, there is no movement in the people standing around Owaisi, not even a change of expression.

We also ran the video through HIVE’s AI detection tool. According to this, there is a 99% likelihood that the viral video contains AI-generated material.

In conclusion, the viral video which is doing the rounds on social media showing AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi performing an aarti is AI-generated.
