Some Congress and AAp-linked social media handles have shared a video of BJP leader and Lok Sabha member Bansuri Swaraj, in which she is apparently seen leaving the stage in the middle of the National Anthem being played. It is claimed that Bansuri Swaraj disrespected the National Anthem at a BJP meeting in Bodhgaya.
The official Facebook page and Instagram handle of the Bihar Congress shared the video, stating, “The national anthem was disrespected again at a BJP meeting. Look at the reality of electoral nationalists.”

The official YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook pages of the Indian Youth Congress, along with the X handle and Facebook and Instagram accounts of the Bihar Pradesh Youth Congress also made similar claims while amplifying the video.
It was also posted on Facebook and Instagram by Aam Aadmi Party, Uttar Pradesh with a caption in Hindi that says, “The BJP insulted the national anthem in Bodhgaya, Bihar. This is the same BJP that claims to be the purveyor of patriotism day and night, but look at its true face, they can’t even respect a sacred symbol like the national anthem.”
Congress national spokesperson Atul Londhe Patil, Congress spokesperson Surendra Singh Rajput, along with Naseem Akhtar and several other X users also promoted the video, claiming that MP Bansuri Swaraj had left the meeting midway through the National Anthem, and disrespected it.

Alt News found that the post by the Aam Aadmi Party promoting the viral claim contained a 32 second video, which was a few seconds longer than the other viral videos of the same incident. Although the camera is focused on the people present in the meeting, an announcement can be heard at the end of the video. It states, “Everyone will sing the National Anthem together, maintaining decorum.” The video ends there.
We then combed through MP Bansuri Swaraj’s official X handle. We found a post from Swaraj dated September 17 in which she refuted the viral video and claims, clarifying, “An incomplete video is being circulated on social media. The truth is that I requested that the National Anthem be sung in its entirety and correctly, and we sang the entire Anthem with pride and respect.”

Indeed, as seen in the viral video, the audience was not singing the Anthem in unison. Therefore, Bansuri Swaraj signaled everyone to stop and, midway through the Anthem, walked up to the stage microphone and made an appeal to everyone to sing it in unison. The Anthem is then resumed, and several leaders, including Swaraj, are seen singing it all the way to the end.
Further investigation revealed that this video was from the Yuva Shankhnaad event organized by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha at the convention hall in Bihar’s Bodhgaya on September 13.
To sum up, Opposition parties and their leaders shared a clipped video of BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj and falsely claimed that she disrespected the National Anthem.
