BJP Yuva Morcha member Shaurya Mishra recently shared a collage of four photos on his X handle, claiming that in a shocking incident in Gurugram, a 24-year-old college student named Nikita Agarwal was murdered by her classmate, Arif Khan. Khan, Mishra claimed, first blackmailed her and forced her into prostitution, and then murdered her.
Citing sources and the police, Mishra also wrote that Nikita and Arif were in love and would often meet at an OYO hotel under the guise of attending college. He claimed that during the course of the relationship, which lasted approximately six months, Khan took private videos and photographs of Nikita and began pressuring her to have relationships with wealthy men. When Nikita resisted, Khan began blackmailing her by threatening to make her private videos viral. When Nikita, fed up with this blackmail, threatened to tell the police, he threatened to kill her.
It was further claimed that Khan feared Nikita might reveal his secret, so he conspired with three other hotel associates to eliminate her. Arif first lured Nikita to the hotel on the pretext of deleting the video. After a fight in the room, Arif, along with three of his associates, held Nikita hostage, gangraped her, and then strangled her to death. The accused dumped Nikita’s body in the woods in the dead of night. Three days later, police recovered the body and began investigating. After a thorough investigation, they arrested the main accused, Arif Khan, and three of his associates, and they have been sent to jail in judicial custody.

Several ex-handles, including Kungfu Pande (Parody), a Right-wing propaganda handle followed by BJP leaders, made the same claims while sharing the same set of images.
These pictures are being shared with the same claims on Facebook as well as on Right-wing Instagram pages.
Police Deny Incident, Arrest Mishra
We performed a keyword search related to this viral claim to look for credible news reports on any such murder or incident in Gurugram. We could find none. It’s worth noting that if such an incident occurred, the media certainly would cover it.
On October 26, 2020, an incident was reported in Faridabad in which a man named Tousif shot Nikita Tomar, a student, outside Aggarwal College in Ballabhgarh. Reports said that after Nikita had refused to marry him, Tousif, along with his friend Rihan, killed her. On March 24, 2021, the Faridabad district and sessions court found the main accused, Tousif, and his friend Rihan guilty of Nikita Tomar’s murder, while acquitting the third accused, Ajrudeen.
On further investigation, we found that on December 11, Gurugram Police responded to the post of BJP worker Shaurya Mishra from its official X handle stating that no such incident had occurred and the facts being circulated were completely false.

Gurugram police also warned that spreading false news could result in legal action. However, despite this warning, BJP worker Shaurya Mishra did not delete the false post. The post is still up and people are viewing and sharing the false claim.
On December 16, that is a week after the original post being shared Gurugram Police informed the public through an X post that Mishra had been arrested. The statement said that Shaurya Mishra had made a false claim that a Hindu girl was murdered by Muslim men in Gurugram. Gurugram Police had also issued a warning but Mishra neither published an apology nor removed the post, after which police registered an FIR and arrested Hariom Mishra (alias Shaurya Mishra), a resident of Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh.
Mishra is being interrogated and appropriate action is being taken. Police said they were also trying to find out his motive behind sharing such objectionable posts on social media.
Sandeep Singh, spokesperson of the Gurugram police, told The Print, “The accused deliberately misrepresented facts and used inappropriate content to spread hatred on religious lines. Such posts can create serious disturbances in society, and the police take these matters very seriously.”
What About the Photos?
We performed reverse image searches to trace the origin of the viral photos. We found images 1 and 4 uploaded on the account of influencer Maulik Chopra on Pinterest. In these photos, Maulik is seen with a woman.
The second photo was from influencer Shivam Thakur’s Instagram page. It was uploaded on August 9, 2025. This photo features Shivam Thakur and Deepanshi Rawat.
The third photo was uploaded on an Instagram page called Indian myth images. However, no clear information was available about who took this photo or when. But the information provided above makes it clear that the photos shared with the viral claims show three different girls.
To sum up, the entire story shared by BJP youth leader Shaurya Mishra about Nikita Agarwal being killed by Arif Khan was fabricated and made up. The photos were sourced from the internet. The post has landed Mishra in police net, but it remains live on social media platforms.
