Following reports of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death in a joint US–Israeli airstrike at his Tehran residence on February 28 — an operation reportedly codenamed “Roaring Lion” by Israel and “Epic Fury” by the US — large gatherings were reported in several Indian cities.
A 16-second clip went viral on social media in this context. The video, which has no audio, appears to show a large crowd of men raising slogans. Users claim it depicts a protest outside the Israeli embassy in Delhi and allege that the demonstration turned violent, with firebombs thrown at the premises.
A Nigerian news outlet, Zagazola Media Network, posted the video with the claim that petrol bombs had been thrown at the Israeli embassy in Delhi. (Archive)

Fact Check
First, we ran relevant keyword searches to check if there were any reports on an attack at the Israeli embassy in Delhi or, more precisely, petrol bombs having bee hurled at it. This yielded no results.
Thereafter, we broke down the viral video into keyframes. A reverse image search on one of these led us to this X post, from NDTV, uploaded on March 1.
#Watch | Members of the Shia Muslim community, led by Ulama of Delhi and the All India Shia Council, gathered at Jantar Mantar in Delhi for protest against the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei in US-Israeli strikes#Iran #AyatollahKhamenei pic.twitter.com/Zam7hUm43o
— NDTV (@ndtv) March 1, 2026
The caption clearly states that the video depicts Shia Muslims gathered at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, in protest against the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US-Israeli strikes. There is no mention of violence, or petrol bombs.
Also note that the Israeli embassy, which is housed at 3, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road (earlier known as Aurangzeb Road) in New Delhi, is around four km away from Jantar Mantar.

Therefore, we can conclude that the viral claim that a protest near the Israeli embassy in Delhi turned violent after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death is false. There are no reports of bombs being hurled at the embassy. A short clip from a protest at Jantar Mantar is being falsely shared on social media with such claims.
