After the TMC retained power in West Bengal, the State has been gripped with violence. At least 14 people have died as a result of the election results. While the opposition has blamed the TMC, leaders of TMC have claimed that a disinformation campaign has been started against the party. In the backdrop of this, several BJP members or supporters have shared a 16-second clip of men dancing with sword and guns to the Bengali song ‘Khela Hobe’. This song was AITC’s anthem in the recent elections.

BJP leader Kuljeet Singh Chahal tweeted the video and wrote, “TMC’s post result celebration… #BengalBurning”. This video has gained close to 40,000 views.

Social media manager for BJP Mahila Morcha Priti Gandhi also tweeted the video, gathering over 15,000 views.

President of the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association Ashoke Pandit wrote, “This is not #Kashmir but TMC’s post result celebration…”

Twitter user @impritamhalder, propaganda media outlet @KreatelyOSINT and BJP supporter Shefali Vaidya promoted the clip as well. Between these two accounts, the video gained over 1 lakh views. Similarly, multiple Facebook users have posted this video.

Old video

Alt News performed a reverse image search on Yandex and found that Instagram user pavan_patil26 had uploaded this video last year, however, a different song is playing in the background.

Furthermore, musician Tanmoy Abhinaba Banerjee released the song ‘Khela Hobe’ in 2021 which means that the song could not have used last year. It is evident that the song was superimposed on the old video. Another Instagram user manish_sagwania uploaded the video in January with yet another song.

Alt News was unable to determine the specific details of the video but it does not show TMC celebrating its victory after winning the West Bengal elections.
