A 15-second clip showing a massive explosion is going viral on social media, being shared as footage from the ongoing US–Israel war against Iran. Users claim it captures a United States military base in the United Arab Emirates under attack.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a joint assault on Iran, targeting key military installations. The strikes reportedly killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with several senior figures of the ruling establishment. The attacks also caused civilian casualties, including 165 students and staff members when a missile struck a girls’ elementary school. In retaliation, Iran carried out strikes on US military bases across Central and West Asia, including in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan and Qatar. The situation remains fluid and highly volatile at the time of writing, with developments continuing to unfold.
X user SilencedSirs (@SilentlySirs) shared the clip on March 3, claiming in the caption that it showed the situation at a US base in the UAE. The post has since garnered over 292,000 views and has been reposted more than 600 times. (Archive)

Fact Check
To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the clip. This led us to a June 14, 2025 report by Al Jazeera that carried the same video. The Arabic headline translates to: “Senior Iranian official: We will target the bases of countries that defend Israel.” However, the video was not accompanied by any caption clarifying where it was filmed.
At the time, tensions between Israel and Iran were escalating after Israel struck Tehran, citing efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear programme. This shows that the clip predates the current hostilities and is not linked to the ongoing war.

We also came across an X post carrying the viral clip shared by the page @BRICSinfo on June 14, 2025. The caption stated that the visuals were from Tel Aviv, Israel, and they depicted Iran’s retaliatory attack.

Hence, from the above findings, it is clear that the viral clip is unrelated to the current war between US-Israel and Iran. It is from June, 2025.
