After the BJP recently returned to power in Delhi asaembly after 27 years, the party’s newly elected MLA from Shalimar Bagh Rekha Gupta took oath as the chief minister of Delhi on February 20, 2025. Against this backdrop, many social media users were seen sharing old videos of Rekha Gupta. One of these clips shows a woman wielding a sword. Social media users claim that this is an old video of Rekha Gupta, who was once an RSS worker and worked with the ABVP, and has been associated with BJP for a long time.

Fact Check
Alt News found that several users had replied to the posts with the videos in circulation claiming that the woman in the video was actually Payal Jadhav. Keeping this in mind, we looked up Jadhav and found that she was a Marathi actress and had worked in several Marathi films and shows.
This video was posted by Payal Jadhav on Instagram on February 19, 2025. Payal paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji in the caption. She also tagged ‘Savyasachi Gurukul’ for martial-arts training. ‘Savyasachi Gurukul’ is a centre established for training in martial arts in Vengurla, Kolhapur.

At the same time, Marathi entertainment YouTube channel ‘Rajshri Marathi Showbuzz’ also uploaded this video claiming it to be of Payal Jadhav. Jadhav has also posted this video on Facebook.
To sum up, a video of a Marathi actress Payal Jadhav wielding a sword was falsely shared as an old video of chief minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta.
