Wailing woman in viral clip is not the one in the Manohar Lal Dhakad sex video

Days after the video of Manohar Lal Dhakad’s middle-of-the-road sexual act went viral, another video of a wailing woman is being widely shared on social media. She narrates how she has been mistreated by the police. The woman also adds that her entire family is under threat, and implores viewers to protect them.

The video comes with an embedded text which connects it to the controversy surrounding Manohar Lal Dhakad, a political figure with BJP links from Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district. Dhakad’s video, in which he was seen engaging in sexual acts with a woman on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, began circulating online around May 22. The incident had occurred on May 13, and was captured by CCTV cameras installed along the expressway. Dhakad was arrested on May 25. 

Users on social media have suggested that the woman seen wailing in the video is named Lubna Qureshi, and she is the same woman who is seen in the viral video with Dhakad.

A verified X user, @riddle4uforever, posted the viral video. At the time of this article being written, the post has managed to gather around 2.75 Lakh views, and has been re-tweeted almost 350 times. (Archive)

Fact Check

We ran a reverse image search on one of the key-frames from the viral video, and were led to an Instagram post from August 22, 2024 by a user named bikaner_ki_sherni_sonu. This post has the same video that is now viral. The user has over 1 million followers.

We probed further to find out more about the woman in the clip, and came across this news report, published by the Rajasthan unit of Zee News, on August 22, 2024. It states that the woman, whose real name is Monika Rajpurohit, was apprehended by police for promoting narcotics by making reels with opium on social media platforms. Bikaner Police also carried out a raid on Monica Rajpurohit’s house on suspicion of drug smuggling, following which around 200 grams of poppy husk was discovered at her house.

We came across several other reports, from NewsTak, The Lallantop, and Aaj Tak, that corroborated our findings.

Moreover, the official X handle of Bikaner Police (@Bikaner_Police) had also tweeted about the arrest, on August 21, 2024.

Readers should also note the identity of the woman seen in the video with Manohar Lal Dhakad has not been ascertained yet, according to publicly available information. A Times of India report says that the authorities were yet to identify the woman. It adds that the police, despite interrogating Dhakad for a few hours, were unable to get any details on who he was with that night.

To conclude, a video, showing a woman breaking down, and entreating viewers to help protect her family, is falsely viral in the context of the Manoharlal Dhakad controversy. Users on social media have suggested that the woman is named Lubna Qureshi, and was involved in the sexual act with Dhakad, footage of which went viral around May 22, 2025. However, in reality, the video dates back to August 2024, and shows a social media content creator named Monica Rajpurohit who was implicated on charges of possession of opium, after a reel showing her consuming opium went viral on the internet.
