Old video of SP leader Mavia Ali

The video dates back to August 2017 and features Samajwadi Party leader Mavia Ali who had kicked up a storm while reacting to the Uttar Pradesh government’s controversial circular asking madrasas across the state to celebrate Independence Day and record a video of the event. Mavia’s statement was widely reported at the time.

Mavia Ali was an MLA representing Deoband in 2016-17. Last year in January, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had shared his video in the name of Naseemuddin Siddiqui, a Congress leader who was earlier associated with the Bahujan Samaj Party.

Who is Himalaya founder?

The founder of Himalaya Drug Company is Mohammad Manal who passed away in 1986. The incumbent President and CEO is Philipe Haydon.

The company has often been targetted on social media for unknown reasons, with false claims branding its deceased founder as ‘communal’. A video of one Naqi Ahmed Nadwi was shared in the name of ‘Himalaya owner’ in September 2020. Nadwi had referred to the demolition of Babri masjid in a video and encouraged the Muslim community to take control over the judiciary, police force, health department and other professions by increasing Muslim representation. A photo of Philipe Haydon was shared with the false claim that he is Himalaya founder ‘Mohammed Menal’ who donates 10% of his income to fund terrorism.
