A CCTV video showing a man scaling a barbed wire-lined wall and stealing a bicycle is circulating on the internet, with the claim that he was an illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator who robbed a Hindu businessman’s house in India.
X user Baba Banaras (@RealBababanaras) shared the video. He identified the man as Mohammed Zubair and said he was an illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator who was later arrested for stealing from a Hindu businessman’s house in India. The user expressed concerns over the “growing threat to India’s internal security, from theft to terror”, due to the presence of illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis. (Archive)

The video garnered around 24000 views. Users should note that this X user, Baba Banaras, peddles communal disinformation and propaganda on a regular basis.
Another user, Deepaktrilokani, shared the video on Threads with similar claims.
Fact Check
A reverse image search on a few keyframes from the video led us a Facebook page named Paraguay News, which had uploaded the same video on May 1, 2025. The caption explicitly mentioned that the incident took place in Barrio Jara, Asunción, the Capital of Paraguay.
The caption, when translated to English, reads,” A thief bypassed security wires and stole a bicycle from a house. A security camera captured the moment the lone criminal scaled the fence of a house, which was topped with razor wire. He made off with a bike and fled the scene. It happened in Barrio Jara, Asunción.”

Further investigation led us to a repport by SNT Paraguay, a Paraguayan news outlet, which shared a video report on April 30, 2025, which included an identical video. The report stated that the incident took place in Asunción, Paraguay.
