A video apparently showing the “US military sending huge planes full of heavy-duty equipment to Israel” in the war against Hamas is viral on social media. X user @MattWallace888 tweeted the same claim and garnered close to 6000 likes and over 1500 retweets. (Archive)

The clip is also viral on Facebook with the same claim.

Fact Check

The viral video contains four cuts which implies that it is a compilation of four different clips. Below are four screengrabs from the four clips.

Upon a reverse image search on the first and the fourth screengrabs, we found a YouTube video from October 2019. The first clip of the viral video starts at 0:05 of the YouTube video. The fourth clip starts from the 0:57 mark of the YouTube video. By comparing stills from the YouTube video with stills from the viral video, we ascertained that the viral video is just a mirrored and zoomed-in version of the original video.

The aforementioned YouTube video is of an US Air Force C-5M Super Galaxy transport plane taking off from Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California on October 4, 2019.

We located the second and third clips in another YouTube video titled ‘Powered Vertical Takeoff with a Payload of 120 Metric Tons: C-5M Super Galaxy’ that was uploaded in May 2023. Similar to the preceding case, these clips too have been zoomed in and flipped horizontally in the viral video. Below are comparisons between stills from the viral video and stills from the YouTube video.

It is worth noting that the aircraft in the first clip has the number 7030 on it while the aircraft in the second clip has the number 7045 on it. Thus, the viral video shows two different aircrafts and not one.

Thus, there is ample evidence to prove that the video apparently showing US military sending huge planes full of heavy-duty equipment to Israel is old and unrelated. However, a plane carrying advanced armaments “designed to facilitate significant military operations” landed on October 10 at the Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel. “We are grateful for the US backing and assistance to the IDF, and to the State of Israel in general, during this challenging period. Our common enemies know that the cooperation between our militaries is stronger than ever, and is a key part in ensuring regional security and stability,” the IDF said in a statement. The Associated Press report on this was cited by X user @MattWallace888 in his tweet.
