A 28-second video is viral on social media where a man and a woman can be seen crying inconsolably. Users claim that the woman, a Bangladeshi Hindu, was brutally raped in front of her father. The video captures both of them purportedly breaking down as she recounted the harrowing incident. The video also shows the woman displaying her torn clothes while saying, “Look at my situation, see what they have done with me” in Bengali.
Radharamn Das, vice-president of ISKCON Kolkata, posted the video on May 29, 2026. His post was viewed 2,34,000 times and reposted 4,900 times at the time of writing. (Archive)
Several X users shared the video with the same claim.
Fact Check
The reader must note that at no point in the video are either the woman or the man heard mentioning rape.
Alt News ran a reverse image search of some keyframes of the viral video. This search led us to a fact-check article dated May 24, containing the same video. Published by a Bangladeshi web portal called ‘Bangla Stream‘, the report stated that the video, originally from Comilla in Bangladesh, was being falsely shared across Facebook, with the claim that it was filmed after a rape incident in Barishal.

The fact-check report clarified that it was not, in fact, a rape. The woman, Rina Rani Saha, seen in the video with her husband, had borrowed 80,000 Tk from an NGO named ‘Pally Mangal Karmasuchi’. They had cleared six instalments of the loan. However, when they failed to repay three instalments, they were assaulted by recovery agents of the NGO.
Another Comilla-based web portal called Comilla Pratidin also covered the incident in a report dated May 15. According to the report, the incident took place on April 30 near the Goalpatty area of Comilla City. The husband, Shyamal Chandra Sarkar, had lodged a written complaint at the Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station a few hours after the incident.

The complaint named four people as the accused — Miraj Hossain, Rahid, Iti Debnath and Roksana Akhtar. Incidentally, one of the accused, Iti Debnath, is also Hindu. This implies that the attack could not have been communal.
Sarkar alleged that Debnath and Akhtar assaulted his wife.

Furthermore, a relevant keyword search led us to several related Facebook posts by Bangladeshi news portals. In a clip of an interview with the victim uploaded by Facebook page Dainik Sokal, the victim talks about how four NGO employees assaulted her over the non-payment of a loan. The same details were reported by a Facebook page named Drishtikon, which also uploaded the viral video.
A month-old video from Bangladesh is being falsely shared by Indian social media users as visuals of a Hindu girl and her father breaking down in front of the camera after she was allegedly raped in front of him. In reality, the video shows a couple who were assaulted over the non-repayment of a loan, and one of the accused is Hindu.
