A video is viral on social media, purporting to show the interiors of Arvind Kejriwal’s luxurious residence in New Delhi’s Lodhi Estate. In the clip, the photos are contrasted with excerpts of a speech given by the former Delhi chief minister, in which he advocated for austerity in politics.

Right-wing influencer Raushan Sinha (@Mrsinha) posted the viral clip claiming that the visuals were from inside Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. At the time of this article being written, the post has accumulated more than 24,000 views, and has been re-shared some 370 times. (Archive)

On April 25, Delhi minister and BJP leader Parvesh Verma held a press conference and claimed that Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal lived in a luxury bungalow with high-end amenities. The Aam Aadmi Party should be ‘Alishaan Aadmi Party’, he remarked. In the press conference, he went on to show the layout of Kejriwal’s residence and photos from inside his house, several of which were taken from the viral social media post.

“Had he devoted as much thought and time to the welfare of Delhi’s citizens as he did to choosing carpets, tiles, paintings, and colours, his party’s workers might not have defected today,” Verma stated.

BJP Delhi shared some of these images from its official X handle with the same claim. (Archive)

Fact Check

We found that AAP leader Atishi Marlena had dismissed the allegations, claiming that the pictures were fake.

AAP Rajya Sabha member, Sanjay Singh also took to X and pointed out that BJP leader Parvesh Verma, as well as the TV channels, was telecasting “fake pictures.”

Several of the photos shown by Verma, which were also posted on social media with the viral claims, led us to photos already uploaded on sites like Pinterest and Instagram.

Similarly, we could find that several pictures which featured in the viral social media posts had been taken from Pinterest.

We also found one of the photos shown by Verma and included in the X post by BJP Delhi in a YouTube video with the caption, “Timeless American Style: 8 Captivating Contemporary Classic Living Room Designs in Los Angeles Homes”.

To sum up, the photos that were circulated by Right-wing influencers and Delhi minister Parvesh Verma purporting to show the luxurious interiors of Arvind Kejriwal’s residence have been taken from various home-decor websites, several of which we could find already uploaded on Pinterest.
