A 0:10-second long clip of Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi addressing a rally is widely being circulated on social media. The video has been shared to mock the Congress leader. It is being insinuated that he said he is grateful that his supporters had to face unfavourable weather conditions in order to attend the rally.

Gandhi can be heard saying in the video, “Aaj baarish thi, aapko kasht bhi huwa hoga, iske liye bohot bohot dhanyawad.” (It rained today and you have faced trouble. Thank you for this.)

The video is extremely viral on Twitter. Among those who tweeted it were @Humor_Silly, @Wake_Up_Mitron and @jayeshforreal3.

The video is also viral on Facebook with both Hindi and English captions. Most people have laugh-reacted on the posts.

Clipped video

We checked Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter timeline and found that he had shared a live feed of a public meeting at Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal. Ten seconds of this feed were circulated on social media to mock Gandhi.

To understand the full context, one needs to play the video from 26:53 minutes when Rahul Gandhi starts to conclude his speech. He begins by thanking the public for coming to his rally from far off places. Next, at 27:03 minutes, he says that they must have faced difficulties due to the rain and he’s grateful that they managed to come despite the conditions. He ends the speech with “Namaskar” and “Jai Hind”.

Hence, a clipped video of Rahul Gandhi’s speech in Manipur was shared to mock him.
