On December 2, we published a fact check headlined “Israel’s X handle at it again; fabricates captions to twist Palestinian girl’s testimony on Israeli atrocities in Gaza”. In the report, we erroneously claimed that Israel’s official X handle had fabricated captions in a video interview of a Palestinian girl and twisted her statements to a journalist. On subsequent scrutiny, we found that although the clipped video did not present the entire testimony of the girl, she had indeed told the reporter at the end of the conversation that Palestinian Resistance, who were underground, were putting the lives of Arab civilians in danger. The closed captions used in the video tweeted by Israel are, thus, correct.
