Old video of Pak man stealing electricity and threatening to kill shared as India

A 30-second video of a Muslim man admitting to stealing electricity and threatening to kill if the connection is disrupted has been shared on social media in India. “I will either die or kill,” he says.

Twitter user @shruttitandon posted this video and claimed that the Taliban are birthing in the country. This video has been viewed over 20,000 times.

We performed a keyword search in Urdu on FB (ماروں گا یا مروں گا) and found that the viral video was aired by Pakistan-based ARY News last year in July. The anchor stated that this incident took place in Karachi and a man named Atauur Rehman threatened the authorities when they tried to install an electric meter.

It was also tweeted by Trends of Pakistan and Siasat.pk in 2020.
