A purported tweet in the name of Aaj Tak is widely circulating on social media platforms, including WhatsApp. Alt News has received multiple requests for verification of the tweet that says, “CBI was unable to uncover any evidence of corruption against the Gandhi family, BJP apologised to the Gandhi family in court.”

A few Twitter users have also posted the tweet.

Fake tweet

Alt News was unable to find any such tweet on Aaj Tak’s Twitter timeline. While tweets can be deleted later, this one is clearly manufactured since all the screenshots shared by hundreds of people is the same. It has an identical number of likes and retweets. There is no second copy of the tweet or a link. Not one person has quote-tweeted Aaj Tak.

It is also noteworthy that the news – ‘BJP apologised to the Gandhi family in court’ – would make headlines if it were true. In this case, it is unreported.

Aaj Tak has clarified on Facebook that the outlet has not made the tweet.
