Several Facebook and Twitter users have shared a photograph that allegedly shows Prime Minister Modi bowing down and folding his hands in front of Reliance Foundation chairwoman Nita Ambani.

The image is shared with the Hindi text, “गुलामों और चमचों के झुके हुए सिर मालिकों के घर का पत्ता बता देते हैं.”

The photograph was also tweeted by former Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar. He later took it down.

MORPHED IMAGE

The viral image is morphed. The original photograph was shared last year with the false claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeting Priti Adani, wife of billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani. The woman in the image is Deepika Mondol, chief functionary officer (CFO) at Delhi-based NGO Divyajyoti Cultural Organisation and Social Welfare Society (DCOWS).

The unedited image was tweeted by Congress leader Surendra Solanki last year with the ‘Priti Adani’ claim.

After a reverse image search on TinEye, we found that One India Hindi had published the original image in 2018 and wrote that it was shot in 2015.

A 2018 article by Amar Ujala also confirms the same. This article also shows Mondol photographed with other prominent personalities like APJ Abdul Kalam, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Shahrukh Khan and Vidya Balan.

NGO Foundation directory also lists Mondol as CFO of DCOWS. The NGO’s parent organisation is PaulFoundation.

Alt News had spoken to Deepika Mondol’s husband Samar when the picture was viral in 2020. “I’m aware that my wife’s picture with PM Modi is being circulated with a false claim. I can’t recollect which year this image was clicked. However, it is probably from a DCOWS event,” he said.

Thus, a morphed image of PM Modi and Deepika Mondol was shared with the false claim that the woman is Nita Ambani.
