Several parts of the country are facing severe deluge. Over 100 people have died in Assam and more than 30 have lost their lives in incidents related to heavy rainfall in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi shared photographs of flooded areas appealing to workers of her party to help those in need. Gandhi has now taken down her tweet.
Website Down to Earth used one of the images in an article published on July 18. Sentinel Assam, North East Today, newsable.asianetnews.com, The New Leam and Go News India also shared the photo in June-July.
The first image was found in a report published by DNA on July 19, 2019. The report was on last year’s flood in Assam. “Assam floods A view of a submerged village in flood-affected Morigaon district,” reads the picture’s description. It has been credited to PTI.
The second photograph was found in a report published by Hindustan Times on August 16, 2017. “A scene from flood hit Araria district of north eastern Bihar,” reads its description. This image is also a PTI file photo.
Therefore, Priyanka Gandhi shared old images of Assam and Bihar flood as recent.
