Video from Pakistan shared as smart attendance system installed in Delhi govt school

A video has been posted on Facebook wherein school students can be seen registering attendance on a machine through their identity cards. The video has been shared with the claim that this is a school in Delhi. According to the message, “देखो केजरीवाल ने दिल्ली के स्कूलों को क्या बना दिया, जिसे सारा संसार देखने आ रहा है, बच्चों के स्कूल में हाजिरी लगते ही मैसेज घर पहुँच जाता है।” (Look what Kejriwal has done in Delhi’s schools, the world is coming to watch, a message is sent to their home the moment they register their attendance- translation). A user Shyam Prakash’s post has been viewed over 12 lakh times and shared over 29,000 times.

The video has been shared with the same message by several Facebook users.

The video has also been uploaded on YouTube with the message in English- online attendance system with sms alert to parents”.

FACT CHECK: VIDEO FROM SCHOOL IN PAKISTAN

Alt News broke the video into several key-frames and using one of these, a reverse-image search of the same revealed a video posted on a Facebook group All Sindh Government Teachers on July 31, 2019.

Apart from this, we found several users who had shared the video on July 31, 2019 as a school in Pakistan, which is among the earliest examples of the video being shared online. Users have claimed that the video is from a school in Rawalpindi. On probing further, we found a video posted on July 31 by a user Bilal Kayani, wherein he had tagged Leadian’s School System. According to his bio on Facebook, Kayani called himself the director of Leadian’s school.

On the same day, the video was also posted on the Facebook page of Leadian’s school. On probing the page, we found another video of the online students’ system posted on May 22, 2019, which had been recorded from a different angle. In this video too, the machine can be seen in which students are registering their attendance through their identity cards.

Even the Dell kiosk seen in the viral video and the one recorded from a different angle look the same, as shown in the pictures below.

Moreover, in the viral video and the photos posted on the Facebook page of Leadian’s school, it can be seen that the uniform worn by the students is identical.

Alt News found that the video of the online attendance system circulated on social media is from a school in Pakistan, which has been shared as a school in Delhi.
