A one-minute video which shows people hoisting BJP’s flag to the Indian national anthem is being shared on social media. Shabbir Ahmad, a Facebook user, posted the video and wrote, “If media doesn’t show this, we must show this to entire Hindustand. BJP’s reality is that they don’t recognise the national flag. TRUE BUT OLD INCIDENT
Alt News did a keyword search on Twitter and found that the viral video was tweeted by journalist Dinesh Shukla on May 14, 2018.
According to Shukla, Shivraj Singh Chouhan hoisted the BJP flag at Chalo Panchayat Campaign in Khajua, a village in Madhya Pradesh. In the tweet, Shukla wrote, “@BJP4India At Chalo Panchayat Campaign in Khajua village near Khajuraho, MP @ChouhanShivraj hoisted the BJP flag and the sang the National anthem … Will the BJP hoist their flag along with the National anthem in the country instead of the Tricolor? Alt News did a keyword search on Google and found an article by Free Press Journal posted May 15, 2018. According to the report, “A video has gone viral which shows BJP leader hoisting the party flag and other reciting national anthem. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan was present on this occasion. The incident happened during an event of тАЬPanchayat ChaloтАЭ Abhiyan where National Anthem тАУ тАЬJan Gan ManтАЭ was recited after hoisting BJP flag instead of Tri-colour at Raj Nagar, Chhattarpur district, on Monday.”
In conclusion, BJP members did sing the national anthem while hoisting the party’s flag but the incident is not recent. It reportedly took place in May 2018.
