Amid the backdrop of the 2025 Delhi assembly election results, a video featuring Congress leaders dancing is being widely shared on social media, claiming that despite failing to secure any seats, Congress leaders were celebrating.

Congress, which was in power in Delhi for 15 years from 1998 to 2013, failed to win a single seat a third time in a row in Delhi. Voting was held for all constituencies on February 5 and results were announced on February 8.

ABPLive uploaded the purported video clip with a caption that, “Delhi Election Result: Congress is celebrating their 4.5% votes share in Delhi”.

Right-wing influencer Raushan Sinha shared the video on X (@MrSinha_) with the claim that there was a celebration happening at the Congress headquarters for maintaining their previous election result of securing nil seats at Delhi assembly. (Archive)

The post garnered around 2,45,700 views.

Another Right-wing user, OpIndia CEO Rahul Roushan (@rahulroushan), too, made a similar claim. (Archive)

Several other social media accounts have made similar claims. A few of them are in the gallery below:

Fact Check

The first thing we noticed was that Rahul Roushan and Mr. Sinha had reshared posts from January by users Mohit Raj Dubey and Radhika Khera respectively. This clearly shows that the video predates the recently held Delhi assembly elections.

Then we performed a reverse image search with some key frames from the video. This led us to several posts on social media platforms from January 2025, that is much before the elections. A tweet by Ajay Jha dated January 23 said, “Beyond victory and defeat… Congress launched its ‘theme song’ for the Delhi assembly elections with drums and trumpets. Senior leaders of the party also danced to the theme song, boosting the enthusiasm of the workers.”

Taking cue from this, we performed a keyword search that led us to a video report by NDTV India on January 23. The caption read, “Congress launched its theme song for the Delhi Elections, with party leaders dancing to the tune”. The video report features similar frames along with the entire theme song.

During our investigation we also found that the YouTube channel of Indian National Congress had live streamed the launch of their official theme song for Delhi assembly elections.

The Times of India also reported on January 23 that ahead of Delhi assembly polls, Congress had released a new campaign song titled, “Har jarurat hogi puri, Dilli meh Congress hai jaruri” (Every need will be fulfilled, Delhi needs Congress).

To sum up, the video clip of Congress leaders dancing is from the launch of the party’s official campaign song on January 23, 2025. It has no relation with the Delhi assembly election results.
