A video of police officers escorting a man who has been shot in his leg has been shared on social media with the claim that the man’s name is Adil, whom the police ‘taught a lesson after he reportedly pulled a gun and threatened to remove a Durga Puja pandal in Azamgarh.
One Kumar Digvijay made the same claim while posting the video. It has been viewed more than 7 lakh times and shared by more than 26,000 users at the time of writing.
Another Facebook user named Vineet Sharma also promoted this video, writing that the name of the man who threatened to remove the Durga Puja pandal is Adil alias Ansar Ahmed. The post garnered over 2.5 lakh views as of this writing.
User Banty Rajput also posted the clip on Facebook, where it received more than 25,000 views at the time of writing.
It is viral on Facebook and Twitter with the same claim.

Alt News performed a reverse image search of a frame from the video and came across a tweet by Pankaj Jha, editor of ABP News. Jha wrote that a group of miscreants in Noida were caught by the police. The group used to coerce people to give them money from ATMs in the pretext of first offering them lifts.

We then performed a keyword search and found a tweet posted by Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissionerate. The October 17 post carries a photo of the accused seen in the viral video, with a caption stating that police were involved in an encounter with a group of men who had been committing assault and robberies in the pretext of giving people a lift.

TV9 Bharatvarsh, Navbharat Times, Hindustan and Zee News identified the men arrested as Anand Verma, Shiv Kumar Verma, Bablu Verma, and Deepak Verma.
The video was thus, shared with the false claim that the police arrested a man named Adil who threatened to remove a Durga Puja pandal.
