A video is being widely shared on social media linking it to the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. It shows two men arriving on a motorcycle, dismounting, and attacking a door with an axe before being detained by security personnel. Users claim the men were Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers attempting to intimidate voters, and that they were swiftly arrested by CRPF personnel deployed on election duty.
Pro-BJP X user Arun Yadav Kosli shared the video and wrote, “TMC goons had come to threaten, but they forgot that CRPF is now deployed in Bengal, they took care of it.”

This user has been found spreading misinformation and communal propaganda on several occasions.
Several users, including @AmitLeliSlayer, @jignesh03011976, @AdiSpeaX, shared the video with similar claims.
The video is also being shared on Facebook and YouTube, claiming it to be an action by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during the recent West Bengal elections.
Fact Check
Upon taking a closer look at the viral video, we noticed that the frame appeared to be cropped, with the words ‘ƎꟼƎᗡИI’ written at the top left corner, which, when flipped, reads ‘INDEPE’. We also noticed a white and red logo-like design next to the word.

We performed a reverse image search on the key frames of the viral video and found a 3-minute video uploaded on August 17, 2024, on a YouTube channel based in Bangladesh called ‘Independent Television’. The half red and white logo in the viral video matched the logo in the YouTube video, and the word next to the logo said, ‘INDEPENDENT’. The title of the video states, “Army arrests miscreants vandalising a shop in Faridpur, Bangladesh”.
We also came across a report published by the Bangladeshi media outlet Dhaka Post on August 17, 2024. It carried the same video and said that it showed Jubo Dal members, the youth wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), vandalising shops following a clash between two groups in Boalmari, Faridpur, on August 14, 2024. The army subsequently detained two individuals. The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media on August 17.

The report further stated that among those arrested, Mohammad Tutul Hussain and Dukhu Miyan were sent to jail.
To sum up, the viral video is actually from an incident that occurred in Faridpur, Bangladesh, in August 2024, where a clash between two groups led to the vandalism of a shop. Bangladeshis security personnel detained two persons. This video is not of “TMC goons” intimidating voters. It is from two years ago and is unrelated to the West Bengal elections.
