Fact Check

A reverse image search of a few keyframes from the video led us to the Facebook page of News21, whose logo appears in the footage. News21, a Bangladesh-based news outlet, published the video on June 29, 2026

The Bangla caption can be translated as “In Bhanga, Faridpur, a wife allegedly cut off her husband’s genitalia while he was asleep. Later, local residents called the emergency number 999, and the woman was handed over to the police. | NEWS 21”

We also found several video reports on the incident by Bangladeshi media outlets, including ADP Bangla, Cumilla News, and SuryaUday Khulna.

Following a keyword search, we found reports confirming that the incident took place in Hogladangi Sadardi village in Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur district in Bangladesh.

The victim, Hanif Sheikh, had his genitals allegedly severed by his second wife, Sumaya Aktar Sumi, following an argument the night before. This act reportedly occurred while Hanif was asleep on June 29. According to one report, Hanif had relationships with multiple women and that disputes over these alleged affairs frequently caused tension in the family.

According to Aajker Patrik, the officer-in-charge of Bhanga police station, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, stated, “We arrested the woman at the scene after receiving information via the emergency number 999. No written complaint has been received regarding this incident so far, but legal action will be taken if a written complaint is submitted.”

To sum up, the video depicts an incident from Bangladesh, which has no connection to Kerala or India. In the video, the man’s genitals were severed by his wife. The claims circulating online are false and misleading.
