The recent clashes between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley, Ladakh left 20 Indian army men martyred. On June 18, China released 10 Indian army personnel, including a lieutenant colonel and three majors, from their custody.

In the backdrop of this, Dr Anand Rai, best known for exposing the Vyapam scam, tweeted an image of a soldier whose back is severely injured. “This is one of the soldiers who survived the barbaric attack by Chinese forces on galwan valley. He has nail injuries all over his body. They were completely unarmed and yet they fought back the Chinese army. рдлрд╝реМрдЬ рдХреЛ рд╣рдерд┐рдпрд╛рд░ рдЙрдард╛рдиреЗ рд╕реЗ рдХрд┐рд╕рдиреЗ рд░реЛрдХрд╛ рдерд╛ (why were soldiers stopped from using weapons) @PMOIndia,” wrote Rai. The image was shared in the backdrop of claims that the Chinese side attacked Indian soldiers with nail-studded clubs.

Fact-check

Alt News performed a Google reverse image search of the image and found that it was published by several Thai-blogs in 2016.

One of the earliest blogs to publish this image was kaupyime.blogpost.com.

Alt News couldn’t independently verify the context behind the photograph. However, it was posted on several Thailand-based blogs in 2016, thus the claim by Dr Anand Rai that the image shows an Indian soldier wounded in the recent India-China dispute is false. Dr Rai has often been found sharing misinformation on social media.
