A video of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi sitting with Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot is viral on social media. The clip shows the two leaders attending a musical programme where two persons on the stage dance to an obscene Bhojpuri song.  

BJP Mumbai minority cell President Wasim R Khan tweeted the video, claiming that Rahul Gandhi was enjoying obscene Bhojpuri songs after Bharat Jodo Yatra. (Archived link)

Another user tweeted the video and wrote sarcastically that Rahul Gandhi was enjoying a patriotic cultural program following the Bharat Jodo Yatra. (Archived link)

National president of Rashtriya Hindu Ekta Sangathan Alpana Tomar shared this video and wrote that Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi were seen taking a break from the Bharat Jodo Yatra while an obscene Bhojpuri song was being played on stage. It was described as ‘the secret behind the padyatra’. (Archived link)

Fact Check

Alt News performed a keyword search, which led us to a December 16 article published by Punjab Kesari. As per the report, a concert was organized in Jaipur, Rajasthan to celebrate 100 days of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Singer Sunidhi Chauhan performed at this program.

Using this information as a clue, we performed a keyword search on Twitter with a date filter applied. This led us to the original video, which had been posted on December 16. With this video, the user wrote that Rahul Gandhi was seen attending Sunidhi Chauhan’s concert in Jaipur. In fact, it was not an obscene Bhojpuri song playing in the video, but singer Sunidhi Chauhan performing her song, ‘Right Here Right Now’.

To sum it up, a video of Rahul Gandhi was edited with the original audio replaced by an obscene Bhojpuri song. In reality, Gandhi and Ashok Gehlot were attending a concert organized in Jaipur, Rajasthan on completion of 100 days of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in which Sunidhi Chauhan performed.
