In the video, he says that the government is asking for proof of ancestral evidence from Muslims and cites Red Fort, Char Minar and Qutub Minar as examples.

FACT-CHECK

At about 30 seconds into the video, the name of the politicians appears on the screen – ‘Faruk Ahmed Spokesperson VBA MH’.

A keyword search on YouTube led us to the same speech uploaded on October 11, 2019. It is titled as, “VBA candidate Faruk Ahmed Press Conference at Nanded [Maharashtra] on 10 Oct 2019”. Based on this, Alt News located the full version of viral clip posted on December 20, 2019. This speech was made by Farukh Ahmed in Grant Dharna Pradarshan at Nanded.

FICTITIOUS MLA ‘ANIL UPADHYAYA’

The name ‘Anil Upadhyaya’ regularly crops up on social media – sometimes as a BJP MLA, and at other times, a Congress MLA. However, there is no such MLA in the assemblies of any state, as per myneta. The screen-grab posted below show the search results for ‘Anil Upadhyay’.

A video of a VBA politician from Maharashtra, Faruk Ahmed, has been shared on social media as BJP MLA ‘Anil Upadhyaya’ criticising the ruling party over CAA and NRC.
