On June 16, Delhi MLA Shiv Charan Goel tweeted images of inaugurating a speed breaker in Moti Nagar which became a subject of online trolling. Since then several social media users have posted an image of a political poster of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The poster reads, “Congratulations! A new speed breaker has been constructed in Sagarpur’s vegetable market.” Sagar Pur is a colony situated on Pankha Road, South West Delhi. It comes under Dwarka Vidhansabha constituency in West Delhi.

BJP supporter Major Surendra Poonia (Retd) tweeted the viral image. His tweets gained over 1,000 retweets.

National spokesperson of BJP Gaurav Bhatia also tweeted the image and later took it down.

BJP Delhi members Virendra Babbar and Kamaljeet Sehrawat amplified the image.

Morphed image

Performing a reverse image search on Yandex led us to an identical image posted by Twitter account @pantherblack363. This account is now suspended but the tweet read, “The image is edited from a banner is related to last year’s inauguration of the redevelopment work of Rohtak Road connecting Delhi to Haryana.”

Next, we performed a keyword search using the Hindi text on the poster (рдмрдзрд╛рдИ. рдЬрдЦреАрд░рд╛ рдЧреЛрд▓рдЪрдХреНрдХрд░ рд╕реЗ рдореБрдгреНрдбрдХрд╛ рд░реЛрд╣рддрдХ рд░реЛрдб рдХрд╛ рдорд░рдореНрдордд рдХрд╛рд░реНрдп рд╢реБрд░реВ рджрд┐рд▓реНрд▓реА рд╕рд░рдХрд╛рд░) and found that an unedited poster, same as the one posted by @pantherblack363, was uploaded by AAP on November 6, 2020, when CM Kejriwal had inaugurated the redevelopment work of Rohtak road connecting Delhi to Haryana.

AAP also aired the video of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal laying the foundation stone of the project. The unedited poster can be seen in the opening few seconds of the video.

To sum it up, several social media including BJP spokespersons posted an edited poster of Delhi CM Kejriwal to falsely claim that AAP created much fanfare after constructing a speed breaker. The original poster dates back to November 2020.
