Fact Check

A keyframe in the viral video showed a screen placed on the podium which mentioned the location of the event as Jasauli Kharag, located in Bihar’s Siwan city. The date mentioned was June 20, 2025.

A relevant keyword search led us to the original video uploaded from the Prime Minister’s official YouTube channel. In this video dated June 21, 2025, Modi, seen in the same attire as the viral video, walked onto a stage while he was being introduced by the speaker. Amid cheers from the audience, he waved to them and shook hands with other dignitaries present on the stage. At no point can the national anthem be heard playing in the clip.

Thus, the claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi disrespected the national anthem by walking around the stage while it played is misleading. The original video shows Modi being introduced by the speaker and waving to a cheering audience, with no national anthem playing in the clip. The anthem heard in the viral version was added later to the original video, altering the context of the footage to amplify a false claim.
