Several social media users have shared a clip of a Sikh man getting baptised, a Christian rite of admission and adoption. It has been claimed that the man is Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi.

Multiple Twitter users have shared it including @Sourabh3507, @PunitTyagiBjp, and @Ravindr14670837.
।@congress_ @RahulGandhi @priyankagandhi @PunjabGovtIndia pic.twitter.com/hpiPs0ozrh

Alt News has received several requests to fact-check this claim on our WhatsApp helpline number (+91 76000 11160).
Man in the video is not Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi
In the video, the priest can be heard saying, “I baptise Simranjit Singh as Samuel…” This itself debunks the false claim. We found that a Facebook user had shared the video mentioning Simranjit Singh.
Simranjit Singh becomes Samuel. Praise the Lord.

Below is a picture of Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi. He does not look identical to the man in the video.
The video below shows a live stream of Channi’s oath-taking ceremony on September 20.
The video has, therefore, been shared with a false claim.
