Fact Check

If one looks closely, one can see that the words ‘Peru Rail’ are written on one of the trains seen in the video.

Alt News was able to find the original video on YouTube, titled’ “PERU RAIL Train to Machu Picchu service on Vistadome class!” uploaded four years ago on March 5, 2020. In the original video, one can see that the train or coach number matches the one seen in the video uploaded by Vaishnaw.

Additionally, Alt News found that not only the visuals of the train but the sequences that followed them were also shot in Peru. The shots, which purportedly were supposed to showcase the insides of the sought-after Vistadome coaches in Indian trains, instead showed Vistadome coaches in Peru.

We were able to find the original YouTube video, titled “Train to Machu Picchu: PeruRail Vistadome”, uploaded four years ago in October 2019.

To sum up, in an advertorial video promoting Indian Rail and Vande Bharat trains in particular, Union rail minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared several clips from Peru, including one of Peru’s Vistadome railway coach. The video was later deleted and replaced with a new version featuring clips of Indian trains.
