A video of a crocodile carrying a dead woman in its mouth has been shared with the claim that this incident took place in Tonk, Rajasthan. It says that the woman slipped into Bisalpur Dam attempting to take a selfie while out on a picnic.

Verified page First India News Rajasthan posted the video on Facebook while stating that the channel hasn’t confirmed where the incident took place.

Alt News has received verification requests on its WhatsApp helpline number (+91 76000 11160) and mobile application. One of the requests questioned if the video is from Powai, Mumbai while the other suggested that the incident is from MP’s Kolar Dam. The latter claim is also circulating on Facebook.

A keyword search took us to a website that said the incident took place in Laguna del Carpintero Tampico in Mexico on June 21.

The incident was also reported by Mexican media outlets. According to Mexico Daily Post, the woman was killed when she was on the shore of Laguna del Carpintero, allegedly washing clothes. The crocodile was eventually captured by the Fire Department.

The outlet also shared a video of the recovery operation.
