This is the third reported hate crime/assault against people of Indian origin in the US in the last fortnight. On February 22nd, a man called Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot and killed in a bar in Kansas by a navy veteran. The former Navy Seal had also asked Srinivas and his friend Alok Madasani to “Go back to your country” and shot at both of them. Alok Madasani survived the attack. Thereafter, a woman of Indian origin was verbally abused in a train in New York. Just yesterday, another man called Harnish Patel was shot and killed outside his house in Lancaster, South Carolina. However, in the case of Harnish Patel, the local police authorities have claimed that there was no evidence of it being a hate crime as yet and that the investigations are on.
